In 2017, when Katalista Ventures was started, the startup scene in Lithuania was still very small while the topic of sustainability was pretty much non-existent. However, startups and sustainability (Triple Top Line to be precise) were always at the core of Katalista Ventures. We always believed in the power of entrepreneurs to create positive impact. The only challenge was finding ways to support them.
During the past 5 years, we wrote reports, shared our knowledge in articles, keynotes, panels, mentorship sessions and events. From startups to large businesses to even NGOs. From personalised early stage acceleration to large-scale pan-European acceleration programmes. Geographical location was never a limit so we scaled our activities and networks with global attitude in mind. Luckily, having our home base in Lithuania, allowed us to create significant value for the Lithuanian and Baltic startup ecosystem. Here are some of the most impactful projects in our portfolio.
Making Triple Top Line the standard way
of doing business
Through our accelerator programs, hackathons, sustainability and innovation advisory we encourage startups and other organisations to adopt a Triple Top Line thinking, that is, look for ways to positively impact People, Planet and Profit. Although TTL was initially popularised as an approach applied to product design, our goal is to adapt it to the way businesses work in general. To raise awareness about Triple Top Line, we created a self-assessment tool for startups to get started on their journey to understand their impact, as well as a Triple Top Line podcast hosted by our co-founder Alex, where we invite startup founders, and thought leaders in sustainability to share their journeys, their insights and advice.

Impact is often measured in scale and depth. Many of Katalista Ventures activities have focused on the scale - making sure that the impact created by startups go as wide as possible, changing as many lives as possible. When it comes to depth-oriented impact, the focus is on the significance of change for each individual. And there has not been a deeper project impact-wise than the NGO accelerator.
NGO accelerator, created by Kurk Lietuvai Alumni and organised by Katalista Ventures, was a 1.5 year programme with the goal to make regional NGOs
sustainable - from people, planet and profit perspectives. The NGO accelerator supported 10 NGOs to develop new financially viable products, and 5 selected NGOs to implement those products further.
The NGO teams created solutions to provide jobs and emotional wellness for the visually impaired, tackled education and employment challenges for socially isolated people, engaging experiences to learn about the jewish heritage in an historically important villages while enabling the local community and
many more.
